Maria Montessori: una vita per i bambini

Roma, 1892. Maria Montessori (Paola Cortellesi), prima donna in Italia, inizia a frequentare la facoltà di Medicina e Chirurgia, sostenuta dai genitori, in particolare dalla madre Renilde (Giulia Lazzarini), che per tutta la sua vita rimane un punto di riferimento. Viene però accolta con freddezza dai colleghi maschi. Proprio all'Università conoscerà Giuseppe Ferruccio Montesano (Massimo Poggio), l'uomo con cui avrà una travagliata relazione e anche un figlio, che non potrà però crescere costretta dall'aristocratica famiglia Montesano per evitare scandali.

She spent all her life to make her "metodo" (method) accepted in the archaic Italian school system, while the rest of the world immediately understand the importance of her theories. She was the first Italian Doctor, a famous feminist, a scientist. Her private life was hit by having an illegitimate son and by the Fascism that didn't want to accept completely her theories.
