El vientre del mar

Junio de 1816. La fragata Alliance, de la Marina francesa, embarranca ante las costas de Senegal. Como los botes disponibles para la evacuación no son suficientes para acoger a todos los tripulantes, se construye una precaria embarcación en la que obligan a subir a 147 hombres: soldados, marineros, algún pasajero y unos pocos oficiales. El plan previsto es que los botes remolquen la balsa hasta la orilla pero el pánico y la confusión se apoderan del convoy y cortan la soga de remolque, abandonando la balsa a su suerte. El hambre, la inclemencia del mar, la locura y una lucha encarnizada se desatan en aquella balsa a la deriva.

June, 1816. A French navy frigate ran aground on a sandbar off the coast of Senegal. Attempts to free the board were futile - the crew had no choice but to abandon ship. Since the available boats were not enough to accommodate the entire crew, the team built a raft. It accommodated 147 people: soldiers, sailors, several passengers and officers. The plan was for the boats to tow the raft. But the cable broke and the raft drifted into the open sea. For those who were on the raft, a harsh and cruel struggle for life began.
